Today, as my friends and I who happen to be westerners of the CCK region, trained back together, one of us felt really discouraged because our of the nature of our jobs, coz our jobs are dependent on our clients' willingness and effeciency to help, which means that they can either be a hindrance to our progress, or an aid. Of course, being in the line of audit spells more than just this problem, but much more, countless in fact. But I told him, that the joy of working isn't from the job, but the people around us. This is assuming that the job guarantees learning and progression, alongside with good remueration and the rest that are expected as well. I explained that there is nowhere on earth we can find another company that is like a NTU village, except in Big 4 Singapore. There is no way we can have so many friends working together at any one time. In Big 4, we don't call our seniors because they are more senior or because they belong to the class of senior citizen, but most of them are really our seniors who have graduated from the different cohorts. This fact alone transforms Big 4 from a mega company into a mega extended family of different generations, yet with a common root and culture. Is it better to live in abundance but sorrowfully, or is it better to live on just enough but with joy, because you're going through it with your love ones? I think the answer is obvious. This is just an analogy, and it is definitely not referring to the rumours that auditors are underpaid. I look forward to my first 2 jobs in Changi North... |
