So is it a chicken, an eagle or a christmas turkey? I know it's been quite a while since I last share my thought. It's been about a month or so since I started work at CWT on 8 May 2006. Much things have happened since then, and I've finally adapted to the lifestyle of waking up at 0630hr everyday! So much to say, don't quite know where to start. First things first, EMERGE 2006 was exciting! I mean it is beyond awesome, it is so phenomenal that it is beyond description, too marvellous for word. The bottom line is that my life is not the same any more. A sigh of relieve after attending 5 out of 6 sessions, wondering is it because the physical tiredness could be released or I have fought the good fight of faith. 2 testimonies to share: Firstly, I'm glad to be given the opportunity to do closing in CWT for the month ending May. This is the first time in my life that I can do something meaningful and interesting out there in the marketplace. Ramlah, my AP section head even gave me her password to authorise all the entries that I have keyed in May, which amounted to no less than a thousand entries! Total value? Almost a million dollars! Not too bad for a newbie who didn't do too well in his exam huh? Nobody enters and records entries for payments and yet authorises everything himself, except me! So, life is getting more and more exciting in CWT, though most of the time I am only doing the basics. However, basics are still basics unless you are applying all that you have learned. In Chinese term, it is 舉一反三。Glad that I've got Boon Long, Chee Yeng and Jan with me! I mean, how better can it be? Next, hall application result is out! Kindly allow me to explain the background story so that you understand the significance of what I'm about to share. The hall application process started just before our examination in April. I have only 95 points, but the average minimum cut-off point for a double-room is about 100. This means that I have fallen short by 5%. However, it is not my desire to live in a double-room as I prefer a little bit more privacy for various reasons. ( Coz' 2nd year I plan to 閉關修煉,1st year result is astounding ) As such, I applied for Hall 1 and Hall 2, which are suites, meaning they have attached bathroom. Their single-room is equivalent to the size of double-room! Suite-style rooms + BIG single room, all these simply mean a minimum of 150 points to qualify to be on the waiting list! After I applied in April, I told my peers. First response, 'you siao ah, 95 points only still want to apply for single room, some more Hall 1 & 2'. Yeah, now you understand how pressured I was. Nonetheless, our famous Taiwan President 陳水扁 said '有夢最美,希望相隨'。Now you know that 阿扁 is actually quite a dreamer, that's why he became the President! I thought to myself, since all of them have higher points than I do, yet not apply for single room because of fear, then I shall arise and seize the moment! Alas, lo and behold, praise the Lord, my application is successful. 95 points for a suite-style single room, 50% way below the cut-off point. It shows me one thing, faith and fear cannot co-exit, and faith always wins! Kinda excited to move into my new room on the middle of a hill on 7 July 2006. Calling out for volunteers who wish to earn some community service hours to come and avail yourself. =) I miss home, it's been more than about a year since I returned to the mother land. Haiz.. First year result is ATROCIOUS! But there's always something to thank God for, i.e. I do not have to retake any module! Next year, my dream is not anywhere else, but the Dean's list. You ask me how? I can refer you to extension 777, please wait a moment. First year in NTU was like a stage drama, crashing the union van into Yunan Garden during Nanyang Arts Festival Opening and our beloved NTU Deputy President Prof Er declared the beginning of NAF a few hours later with StrikeForce and The Trio, created a gigantic heart-shape balloon sculpture during Nanyang Arts Festival Mid-Festival V-Day Celebration, and collaborated with Esplanade Youths, and finally the showdown of Nanyang Arts Festival Closing Ceremony at Toa Payoh HDB Hub on 8 March 2006. All these happened, because someone paid the price, because many ones paid the price. You ask if it's worth it? Well, there are different seasons in life. I appreciate the 80+ people whom I work and serve with, without you guys, everything would be my pure dream and imagination, but you turn it into a reality... Looking forward to academic year 2006/2007. Greater things lie ahead... |
